Outcomes

At the end of the this module, (after 6 weeks struggling , i felt that, 'Hey not bad"

actually i can, and i am able to do this


Demonstrate the process skills necessary in increasing self-awareness, critical reflection; analysis and evaluation into ones own practice.

i will always start asking my self with "Socratic-questions"

- what am i going to do now? if from here, how can i reach there? what's is the resources available to make me able to reach there? is there any rources i can rely?


· Exploit web based technologies for the purposes of learning, communication and research.

- i am learning, i am communicating and i am researching. all this while, i do not know how to embeded music into my own blog... but i learn from other's people blog, i communicating v my action learning set members and i do some researching online to "google" it. ALEX always say to me, ask GOOGLE. ahuh.. then i do it.. i am also able to use pando to download and upload my huge file

· Engage in action learning and inquiry based learning through active participation in small learning groups towards problem resolution.

i think this learning experience never i get in else where.

and this actually make me, myself be more proactive and able to seek for solutions

How this module help me in my workplace

i think, if i am the chairperson, i will definitely invest the money to all the gov staff to learn this skill, and not abuse the ICT do only chatting, or just online log into face book or friendster...
i am trying to create a video clip for my organization and it's a program end on 13-14 jun 2009, last weekend...

this program is specially design for juvenile delinquency youth offend penal code and punish under child act 2001 sec. 93(1)(b)
the parents/guidance will need to attend at least once program organize by Department of Social Welfare promote the wellness and build the positive communication skills among the parents and children.

so, i just make this video clip for review, and also keep as evidence of project.
this is one thing i see that i can share with my counseling and pscyhology unit at my workplace.

To create the FAQs for the proposal ALS, all of us do braistorming and contribut ideas on what kind of question might be asked? how are we going to generate the questions and make the questions to be able to meet the criteria of the proposal and learnign outcomes.

below are questions and answers enerate by group members:-

1. How much will this cost the government to implement?
if the goverment had started the hardware and software aplication, the learning will be FREE


2. What initial investment will be needed in the technology?

The hardware, computer/ laptop, able to access internet, headset/micromipe/



3. What training would be needed for staff to start to E learn?
Preferable Action Learning. basic computer skill, how to do searching, install sofware, upload ans download file, sharing file , email, basic Microsoft skill


4. What speed of internet services would be required throughout Penang?
Wi-fi or land line would do


5. Will the government staff be ready for E learning? What are the skills needed?
In this globalization world with rapid changing in electronic technologies, I believe your staff be more or less ready, moreover
human workforce need to equip with the skills in technology application to keep up todate


6. Do the government need to change a new set of server to cater for your e-learning?
No, preferable with internet accessable.


7. Will the staff need to go for long training - please specify the days of training so that we can plan to bring in backup staff.
No, just 2 days of briefing on Action Learning set and introduction of intenet application.


8. Can you send me the text manual before hand and let me go through?
It will be no text manual, it will all online resources.


9. You mention so many software application, if the government decided to purchase will it not be very costly?
Most of the mention software application are free online.


10. When can the staff reached their skillfulness?
when the staff able to collaborate, to share their idea, and used the technologies wisely, they are skillfull each individual have own learning pace and the learning of skillfulness depends on the competency, knowledge and skill that obtained


11. How to implement it? Which government department to kick off first?
Immediately after the briefing, and any government department can choose to go 1st.

this is really not an easy task to prepared an proposal in 2 page, of content ALS

in this collaboration action, we need to submit our proposal to state goverment in Pulau Pinang, and present to Chief Minister YB. Lim Guan Eng and his Exco members


I'm sure you would like to know how E Learning could benefit the Government.
The benefits are as follows:

1. It's flexible and accessible for your workers

Most of our action learning/e-learning courses can be done on-line, so your people wouldn't have to be grouped together in the same place at the same time. They can access e-learning at any time and anywhere.


2. It's inexpensive –

Formerly a lot of money has been spent on engaging outsource/independent multimedia course supplier companies to provide with the training. This is different.

3. Membership of a global learning community would connect Penang to the rest of the world -

Government workers would become students of internationally recognised standards. They would interface with other students from around the world and have access to the learning resources that comes along with such a population. This would help to keep standards in Penang up to date.

4. It offers a different approach in the learning environment –

how to embeded Mind Map into Blog



Publish Maps

MindMeister allows you to make your maps public, i.e. share them with everybody on the Internet. Click the Publish tab on top of Map Properties window to open the Publish Map dialog.

learning outcome #1

i remember first day when i attend the CPPD E-Learn at DISTED on 9th May 2009
ALEX start the workshop by rolling the question in group, asked yourself
what bring you here?
what is it like you would expect in this course, and then generate 10 questions

firstly, i didn't see his intention to do so, why he is using this so -untraditional method (my learning experience is slightly different from his teaching method)
Huh, what is this??
in my mind, i still can't catch what is it going to be?

but, i have my own mission to accomplish
it's hard for me to go under my GOV. agency training, as they didn't provide anything relevant course (i think i won't like to attend kursus pengurusan kewangan, pengurusan Kualiti, tatcara pengurusan stor and so on....), the courses that offer by my agencies is just hardly fit with my field.

actually, i still can considered as fresh-graduate, i am having my degree convocation on 2007
just before this, i had finish my thesis, and m=i do my internship atart end of Disember 2006, then continue work at UTAR as student counsellor after my internship at Hospital Serdang...
i strongly felt that i need some one to guide me along this helping profession.

thus, i make uo my mind, without sponsor from my workplace i will take time to participate in this CPPD program.

Learning to E-Learn is a compulsory module which prepares participants with the critical foundation skills to be able to engage effectively through the action learning process. It utilise the most updated internet technology for group communication and to research solutions to the presenting challenges arising from their respective practice.

learning in so flexibility way and using the technology to communicate is 1st time in my life. i am having this precious experiences and i do enjoy so much as having Jo, Hazel, Melinda and Seok Bin as my team members for this action learning set. the learning is not alone. like if i do not know how to download audacity, there is someone to be refer before i go to Alex, the coordinator
and also, if i am having any new input, i will share with them... ...

the 6 weeks learning cycle module and commences with 2 face-to-face workshops, plus 2 online tutorial, and 4-5 formal and informal online group discussion via SKYPE enquire me to utilize the skill that i had learn, we used mind meister to project ideas, used slide share for our sharing presentation, used google documents, the elgg, the wikis for terminology, and also the pando to download and upload big file.

wow, if i am not in this ALS, i don't think i will go through this, i am lazy type people and easy to get comfortable
u know, i can live without internet, handphone or i can spend whole day at home just watching TV or read novel... o i can do so....
like a DRY old lady style right?? who will believe? yes, truthly i can be this way

in this learning module, i get a chance, not to say got chance, i think the suitable words is i had been allocated to an ALS and to achieve the module outcome through the mission code given by ALEX. i need to study, to learn, to engage with set members to discuss, to collaborate and to find a solution on the task given to us.


Thus,
the ALS engages as a learning team (the virgin group, 5 of us) need to organising ourselves to enquire, research, discuss and formulate our own solutions to the presenting problem scenario. at the required submission date, we need to submit and publish our findings and received feedback from ALEX
however, ALEX unable to make it due to some reason. we manage to do the presentation online for an hour. just, my personal blog didn't really do much on it..

i can smell that this learning set going to be end in the short while...
i will going to miss this action learning set members

FINALLY, PRESENTATION OVER

this is new experience for me, doing online presentation is really a bit unused to it
before this, when i am studying at university, we r asked to do classroom presentation with a crowd to evaluate your performance.

this round, only priscilla able to join as guest and look at our presentation.
it's really nervous...
feel lucky too, when alex is not able to make it... haha
release my stress....

now, what i need to do is to update the blog and send to alex
also some work for the assignment...

today, i found that the google share document are really good and be useful to do presentation... can invite others as audience and look at the slide in google document
besides, the presentation also have speaker key notes for presenter to refer.

just one thing, if the line is weaked or there is disturbances, such as raining heavily or what..
the online progress might not be workeh out smoothly
this is the only risk
+ blackout...

just now, my house blackout without notice.. for 15 minutes, was staying in the dark alone...
it's really uncomfortable...

oh GOD.
tomorrow is the final presentation for the Action Learning Set e-learning
but i am so nervous,
yet, the group members is very committed to be available to online at SKYPE to have final discussion and the plan (or so call strategy) to make the presentation work

i feel that the group energy really make us change the dynamic of learning
i m really satisfy on the e-learn

from e- phobia, i am able to cope it and enjoy the new technologies and skill
you know, when we are able to make something happend, or fix the problem...
this will bring a lot of satisfying

the other group for SWP is really passive... i hope the group members might work acively in together to work out for the goal.

VIDEO CLIP

promise group member's that i will try to do a short power point/ video slides for the number fifth section: How the operation Framework work?
initially, i had used "print screen" method to copy the picture/ images i need,
then, i used the windows media maker to make it become a simple video slides containing the moving of the number 5th issues.

besides, i also try to insert the background music to the slides. wishing to finish it asap, as i already sepnd 8 hours sit infront of my Laptop and do the editing work

kolb's learning style


























Keefe (1979) defines learning styles as the "composite of characteristic cognitive, affective, and physiological factors that serve as relatively stable indicators of how a learner perceives, interacts with, and responds to the learning environment." Stewart and Felicetti (1992) define learning styles as those "educational conditions under which a student is most likely to learn." learning is interesting. before this, i was able to run workshop for my UTAR student's about learning style. What type of learner u r?
are u a visual learner? audio type? or traditional type?
if u r specific learning style, then the intelligence might able be one of the style u prefer.

in this action learning set, we start from an stranger, to move towards the goal.
Knowing myself and my team's learning style allows me to grow and develop more effectively, building my ICT skills and also top up my personal experience and, i feel that, it's really allowing me to meet my life goals.

sometimes, i feel that i m so "small" and lacking of knowledge in my work,
via this learning, i mean the action learning set do make me aware of my weaknesses and make me move forward on how to gain more resources in my field work.

i will work harder....

do more self relection and shown more evidence of "e-learning"...

problem... never end!
haiya~~ i don't want to have two identity, but things have come this far, that make me no choice but to redo, and re-set my things...
i have no way... and the most headach way is i m not confident what the password i m using.
so, this rounf i make sure myself had a copy in my manual diary, to record my username and password.

i m not able to log in to cppd e-learn group at elgg...
and i m successfully log in to S.W.P.
good that i had log in...

today, Jo send me msg told me that she is having trouble v the internet access

jo said "dont know whats wrong but computer, and the internet connection went kaput!"
hmm... maybe tonite will not able to make it.
me, hazel and melinda struggling online via SKYPE.

my God... the internet connection is terrible.
finally, we r able to talk v each, but just 3 of us... Seok binn unable to make it because her internet connection have problem too
we able to do the share in goodle documents, and we r able to download the POWER POINT upload by Jo in google documents and download it into our own computer.

hazel will try to do what she can... for the uploading video...
while... i will try to do my part..

hopefully we are able to meet again before the 2nd online tutorial group in this coming wednesday!

2nd online conference v set members

today, this is our 2nd online group conference via skype,
actually Jo had set the powerpoint for the action learning set mission code project.
but this round, we tried to figure out, is there any possibilities to insert the video and audio for the powerpoint presentation.

this round, we tried to distribute the work and resposibilities among ourselves, and this is
melinda- overview action learning set - using audacity to read out the bullet
iling and hazel - slide 7 & 8; make it as video
Jo- try to searching on the action learning video.
Seok Binn - try to explore the audacity, or real player, and try to store it online, so group members can try to download from there.

so, for my part, the operation framework
we are arguing on the question that i ask "is blog using as communication or documentation tools?"
so, melinda respond that blog is used to keeping up as documentation as we r writing the journal and keep it record.
but, however it is used to communicate a well, as follower could comments on the blog...
haha..
so, the round discussion must make agreement around the members

Self Help: OnLiNe Group ALS MI_eps01

wow...
it's really tired, and my head is really burden, my eyes almost couldn't open.
i am wondering, will i get the episode of phobia or anxiety by looking at computer; or
will i get the OCD, because frequently online and checking my email... afraid of not sending email or not doing task, or not get task done.
hahaha.. just a lousy joke to release tension.

What's Action Learning?

To answer the Mission Code Name: Operation ACT 09

the initial question that we need to ask is :-
(1) What is Action Learning?

(2) How the action learning work?

(3) How to start it?
(4) what's the learning set to be able to work in group?

Action Learning (AL) involves working on real problems, focusing on learning and actually implementing solutions. It is a form of learning by doing. Pioneered by Professor Reg Revans and developed worldwide over the last 50 years, it provides a well-tried method of accelerating learning which enables people to handle difficult situations more effectively.

AL is a process of inquiry, beginning with the experience of not knowing 'what to do next', and finding that answers are not available through current expertise. When expertise fails to provide an answer, collaborative inquiry with fellow learners who are undergoing the same questioning experience is always available. To be effective, this partnership in learning needs to be both supportive and at the same time challenging, deeply caring yet questioning. Such partnerships actually create themselves when different people with different ideas engage whole-heartedly with each other to resolve each others' problems.

This is a profound shift: from dependence on available expertise and pride in the steady accumulation of knowledge to learning with and from fellow learners, honestly disclosing doubts and admitting ignorance.

AL is based on a radical concept: L = P + Q.

Learning requires Programmed knowledge (routine knowledge in use) and Questioning insight. The process integrates research on what is obscure with action to resolve a problem, and personal and communal reflection.

The process takes place initially in small groups, called 'Sets', but is free to find other opportunities for furthering inquiry. Each question has possible answers which are tested in action. Those taking part in this process find that they have opened up far more than a useful technique of investigation; they have found a new way of life where being responsible for one's own learning is a continuing process of personal development.

Professor Revans founded AL on the principle that it creates conditions in a tight learning community such that real people are obliged to tackle real problems in real time:

· small stable group ('Set') of about six 'comrades in adversity' working in a regular social process

· learn from and with each other to take observable action

· target the reality of the 'mess' at field level

· problems are complex and have no identifiable solution

· issues have significance and risk for the participants

· proceed by conjecture and refutation

· exchange advice, criticism and support

· activities lead to examination of the problem(s) and the self

· learning is both defined and accidental

Haze on ELGG

i open up the inbox in ELGG, i found that haze left a note for me

HI I Ling,

I can see from your message on one of the boards that you know how to use Elgg to collect everyone else's blog in one space. can you pls give me instruction on how to do it? If it is easier I can call you and yo tell me but sometimes my connection is so slow that it takes too long to open pages while someone tells me what to do. That's why I couldnt follow the intructions given in the tutorial. I am in an area of KL where the connection can be very slow. Sometime 3-4 minutes to open one page!!!

then, u will see your ELGG page turn to the picture as below, right?

ok, next you need to click the widget gallery at ur right hand side, to click blog and draw the blog to the right widget or middle as u wish to. then click on SAVE

then, what you need to do next is to save the access as "friend'. ok?
remember ya, if you would like to repeat to add in more friends blog and keep it on one space, just repeat the same step untill u collect all blog.

Mission Impossible

today, i receive ALEX mission...
i am so nervous, and i afraid that i am nit able to get the right password to get in to the second page.
i try REVAN, but appears reply answer say "too bad answer"
then i search GOOGLE and finally i get the password!! yes, the mission code number is

L = P + Q,

where learning (L) occurs through programmed knowledge (P) and insightful questioning (Q).

Thanks GOD, i get it right.

hai... the submission date of the assignment is 20th June... i think the group need to reschedule back and think of the work distribution and discussion then...

yeah, now i am trying to listen back the online tutorial group record send by Alex. i used the pando to download it and store it somewhere in my hard disk.

it's really a long discsussion session. when i listen it, i feel that i learn again. things that i didn't notice during the tutorial, i can replay and just try to follow the instruction to do it again. haha...

sometime, when i find diffiuleties, i will ask help from the web which have windown tours.
this is just like 1...

first online tutorial group

it's kind of interesting when we host up and discussed about the problem that we encounter. the world become smaller, able to control and easily to get the resources and also to the particular person. the distance, no longer a qu.

i learn that it's really a good contact tonight. alex try to be fasilitator by using correct instruction to guide us to do the right things. the setting of my blog had been update and change, thus it is enable anybody to access. it's good so..
then, i able to follow the group's e-learn learning experience.

sometime, i will online to read my friends blog for leisure purpose; but none is for learning purpose. this round, i need to do it as this will enhance my learning. i wonder how it could be. so excited to know the result. huh...

Reflecting 10 E-Learn Questions

i happends to check on Haze blog, she had updated the record of the questions of ours group had about this E learning module and also for the other's group on 9th May 2009.
for this moment, i think i have my own answer for it.

Question from our's group
1.What is it that I will need to learn here?
I learn how to used gmail effectively by mastering the advantages, etc the calendar and file sharing, setting up blog and be follower of the blog, communicate online by using SKYPE, hosting conference, video /audio conference, playing together v new application, such as elgg, pandao, mind meister, and wiki.

2.What are the specific skills I will need to do this course?
i need to have hardware skill in setting up the webcam, the headset, and also i need to have digital deviced that able to help me performe better in the learning process. initially, i don't have internet access at my rent house, to enable me learning more effectively, i make up decision to put on streamyx. Thanks to my lovely BF. he help me a lot in this technical part. and then,
i learn that i need to hv specific knowledge on how to use the audacity, the seed or so call bit map to download the torrence and also embedied video from the web.

3.How can I bring happiness and joy into the work that I will subsequently do with people?
4.How can I equip myself to deliver services to different client groups?
5. How can E Learning programmes directly help learning disabled children?
6. How do we know how effective an E relationship is with a client?
7. What are the pros and cons of E learning?
8. In a moment of crisis to what extent can an E learning/professional relationship be useful?
9.What can I take from here to help a group of adolescents with emotional/behavioural issues?
10.How effective could my introduction of E work be within government agencies such as the Social Welfare Dpt?

just a bit 感触

today, i m rushing for my power-point presentation while in the office i am stuck with all type of client cases. I find it so hard, sometimes working without internet and resources in my office. u know, my office is good enough providing support and welfare care for clients, but not working employes

could u imagine, i am working there 1 year without a personal computer, but just like playing music chair to share the computer with others' staff there. just on 14 april 2009, i had get my own pc. It's a good motivation for me. i tell myself, it's a good start to move on...

however, there is problem occurs. i do not have internet access in my room. my computr practice using Open Office application, while the older computer is using Microsoft/window xp. when i am doing any word documentation and would like to print out at others colleague computer who has printer, it's really killed me.

due to the reason, when i am doing printing, the margin of the paper will always run and not be fit. MY GOD. just thinking like want to kicking it and say "GO Hxxx"
i practice my EI, learn to have more positive self talk to myself, and asked my emotion to be relax and just let it be.

now, i am trying to open ELGG iD.
while,
i think i had registered. yet, i try to registered it already...
sometime i do ask, am i so lousy in e-learning? can i make it as i am so slow in electronic things...

trying for so many time, typing the same thing, the display name, the user name, email, password, and repeat to confirm ur password...
but how come, still cannot log in?
what's wrong?

HOW come still cannot log in??
something wrong?? am i not following the right way?

after trying and fixing it,
around 60 minutes pass....
FINALLY used my gmail to log in using OPEN ID.
it's really a little hard time...

i am not sure what is this ELGG about...
as alex always tell in class
start to generate questions on the question.
Questioning on the question will make u clear and undersanding about the solution.
my question is:
1. what is ELGG?
2. How does ELGG functioning?
3. What am i going to do with ELGG after i notice Alex of my iD?
4. how can i learn from ELGG from this learning module?
5. Is it hard to master ELGG?
6. Will i able to find the solution if i am having difficulties?
7. How am i able to seek for aids? Who can help me? Alex? ???
8.HOW ABOUT d others members? can they help me in learning out and achieve the objective
9. if there is any assignment to complete, am i able to do it ?
10. maybe i just need to relax for sometime, and wait for coordinator next instruction :)

WHY? WHERE?WHEN? WHICH?WHAT? AND WHO?? the most important is HOW??

he say, through out the experience to ask about the question will able to enhance the critical thinking, releftion of thinking and analytical thinking...
the 3key component is significantly in linking with the time, space and people.

i ask myself again, what would i want to learn in this mini-module course?
as i spending money by my own, and sacrifices my personal time (not yet study for my psychology paper which be tested on 13.5.09), what i want to learn in this quality time?

where i want to start? what is my expectaton? what kind of information i want? hos i find useful resources that benefit me in my own practice as a clinical work, in this helping profesion?
